Calibration Intervals

Calibration Interval

We often get asked, when should I get my equipment calibrated next? This is not a straight-forward answer. To determine the re-calibration interval, a number of factors need to be considered:

  • importance of measurements

  • manufacturer recommendations

  • operating environment

  • historical stability of the equipment

  • regulatory requirements

We do recommend that test and measuring equipment be calibrated periodically. Our clients typically get their equipment calibrated on a one-year recurring schedule, however, a specific time period cannot be given by us. It is up to you to determine the right calibration schedule for your equipment, based on the above factors, unless you specifically request us to, or it is a legal requirement.

For example, equipment that has historically demonstrated stability over a number of calibrations - the case may be made to have its calibration interval increased. Likewise, equipment that demonstrates significant drift or instability may need more regular calibration.
